Baron Volleyball Coaches

Adam Cutrell
Adam Cutrell is currently the Head Girls & Boys Volleyball Coach at Fountain Valley High School (3rd Year) and coaches for Surf City Girls Volleyball Club & The HBC Boys Volleyball Club.
Adam has been a volleyball addict his entire life. His earliest team pictures are from church leagues when he was still a tween. Coach Cutrell played volleyball for Ocean View High School in Huntington Beach, CA. In one game he served ten jump serve aces in a row. His days playing high school and college volleyball, at GoldenWest and Utah Valley State College, have given him the experience to pass on valuable information and techniques to athletes currently in that phase of life.
Adam began his coaching career in his early twenties at Ocean View High School. He taught and trained the Freshman/Sophomore girl’s team as well as assisting with the Varsity team. The players learned valuable volleyball skills as well as life skills. One of Coach Cutrell’s special talents is connecting with the players. He is able to talk to the girls on their terms and in ways that they understand. Also he is more than willing to get on the court and demonstrate as well. Besides Ocean View High School, Coach Cutrell has run several club teams. He has coached multiple age divisions at Surf City. More than a dozen graduates of Coach Cutrell’s teams at Ocean View and Surf City have gone on to play at four year institutions , including Ivy League Schools.
Coach Cutrell also has Championship experience with Orange Coast College. During his time at Orange Coast, the team won back-to-back State Championships. Adam also helped place more than 30 players in Division I institutions. Chuck Cutenese, the head coach at Orange Coast called Adam, “One of the brightest stars in coaching today.”
Adam has also trained a high ranking team on the AVP Tour. Coaching a professional beach volleyball team has given him a broader exposure to the sport and to the most talented volleyball athletes in the world. The NCAA will soon add Beach Volleyball to its list of sports. Adam’s experience will be invaluable to college bound athletes that would like to pursue that new and exciting opportunity.
Coach Cutrell believes that life is a balance. Athletes need to train hard, study hard, and live a moral life. He is an educator first and foremost. Adam uses the volleyball court as a forum not only to perfect athletic skills, but more importantly to improve life skills and values that will serves his athletes long after they leave his tutelage.
Coach Cutrell lives in Huntington Beach, CA with his wife, AnnMarie, and their five children. AnnMarie was never much of a volleyball fan but has been converted. The kids play volleyball in the living room and are waiting for the day when they are old enough to go to dad’s work and play on one of his teams.
